Dr. Edward Hsieh completed his undergraduate studies at Simon Fraser University and then pursued his Doctor of Optometry degree at Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry.
While at Western University, he excelled in his externship rotations and expanded his clinical focus in specialty contact lens fitting, pediatric and geriatric eye care, low vision rehabilitation, and primary eye care. His rotation training included the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital and University Hospitals of Cleveland, a Veteran Affairs medical centre, and a non-profit rural community health clinic.
Dr. Hsieh has been recognized with many honours and awards including the American Optometric Foundation/Johnson & Johnson Vision Care 2016 Award of Excellence in Contact Lens Patient Care, Los Angeles County Optometric Society Award, induction into the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honour Society, Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry Hays-Haine Family and the Core Values Award, as well as a number of professional grants.
He has authored numerous posters at optometric conferences internationally investigating Corneal Topography, Keratometry, and Vision Rehabilitation. Dr. Hsieh is a passionate Vancouver Canucks and Seattle Mariners fan and his hobbies include running, hiking, and playing the trumpet.
Dr. Hsieh is TPA certified in B.C. and is fluent in English and Mandarin. He enjoys seeing patients of all ages and has special clinical interest in specialty contact lens fitting, myopia control, and management of ocular disease.
